Radhashtami - The Birthday of Radha Rani

Radhashtami: Tuesday, 29 August 2017 (Bhadrapad Shuklapaksh, 8th)
Vaishnav Devotee celebrates the birthday of RadhaRani. She was born in Barsana, 30 Km from Mathura, and she appeared as the daughter of King Vrishabhano and Mata Kirati.

Radhaji was older to Sri Krishna and it is believed that the Divine girl did not open her eyes until Krishna was born. The relationship of Krishna with Radha transcends human concepts and is Spiritual in nature.

Vedic Literature explains that Radha is Krishna’s Spiritual Energy. Whenever the Lord incarnates, His Spiritual Energy also takes up a Female Form. Hence Hindus always worship Laxmi with Narain, Seeta with Ram and Radha with Krishna. It is redundant to state that one may attain Krishna only through the Grace of Radha.

Ganpati Visarjan - Ganapathi Bappa Morya, Purchya Varshi Laukariya

Ganpati Visarjan Tuesday, 5 September 2017
It is the last day of the Hindu festival Ganeshotsava. Mostly celebrated in west and south India, it comes on the tenth or eleventh day of Ganesh Chaturthi which generally falls on the fourteenth day of Bhadrapada or the sixth month of the Hindu calendar.

According to the beliefs and customs, the immersion of the idols takes place on 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th or 10th day. Many families who have idols consecrated at home perform the immersion ceremony after a day. This is because scriptures state that the clay idol which is transformed into a divine being retains His sanctity for a day.

Rishi Panchami Vrat Katha (Hindi)

Rishi Panchami Vrat Katha ऋषिपंचमी
Saturday, 26 August 2017 Puja Muhurta: 11:10 AM TO 01:35 PM
On the Rishi Panchami day homage is paid to the Sapta Rishis – the seven sages – Kashyapa, Atri, Bharadhvaja, Vishvamitra, Gauthama, Jamadagni and Vashishta. In some regions in North India, women observe the Hartalika Teej Vrat (fasting) for three days. For them, Rishi Panchami is the final day of fasting. The fast on the fifth day (Panchmi) of the waxing moon (shukl paksh) of Bhadrapad is undertaken by men and women alike. Its effect is to wash away sins done voluntarily or involuntarily. The devotee should after a bath in the sacred water, clean his/her hands 108 times, the mouth 108 times and listen to the story of Ganesh, Navagreh, Saptarishi and worship Arundhati. Fruits should be eaten only once in a day.

Hartalika Teej Vrat Thursday, 24 August 2017 Morning (Pratah) Puja Time: 06:00 to 08:31 Evening (Pradosh) Puja Time: 18:47 to 20:25
Hartalika Teej falls on the third day of the first fortnight of the month of 'Bhadra'. It is a three-day festival which is celebrated by women in honor of Parvati Ma. On this day, womenfolk keep fast for long and conjugal life of their husband. Hartalika Teej fast proceeds without even drinking a drop of water. By rigorous fasting and praying to Goddess Parvati on Hartalika Teej, married women are blessed with healthy life of their husband while the unmarried girls are said to be blessed by a husband like Lord Shiva.
Haritalika Teej is basically celebrated in north Indian states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

It is believed that on this auspicious day, Goddess Parvati was accepted by Lord Shiva.
As per the ancient story, Mata Parvati was in love with Shiva, but he was an ascetic and was not aware about her. In order to impress him, the …

ill-effects of Chandra darshan on Ganesh Chaturthi

This year Ganesh Chaturthi (Vinayak Chaturthi) falls on the Fri, 25 August 2017

It is extremely harmful to look at the Moon on Ganesh-Chaturthi. Therefore be very careful not to look at the moon on that night. If one happens to look at the Moon on the night of Ganesh-Chaturthi, then no matter how innocent one is, one will definitely be defamed.

Even Lord Krishna was accused of having stolen the ‘Syamantak Mani’ because of looking at the Moon on this night. However, if you look at the Moon on the 3rd and 5th nights of that lunar month, the harmful effects caused by seeing the Moon on the 4th lunar night is countered. In any case, if by mistake you do happen to look at the Moon on this night, read or listen to the episode narrating the theft of the Syamantak Mani as described in the 56th and 57th chapters of the tenth Skanda of the Srimad Bhagawata.
