Hariyali (Singhara) Teej: Friday 5 August 2016
Hariyali Teej (Singhara Teej) is one of the most widely celebrated festivals of Rajasthan & also of some part Central & North India. Swings, traditional songs and dancing are the unique features of Teej celebrations in Rajasthan. Women perform traditional folk dance dressed in green colored clothes and sing beautiful Teej songs while enjoying their sway on swings bedecked with flowers.On this day, women and young girls wear their best clothes and adorn themselves with fine jewelry. They gather at a nearby temple or a common place and offers prayers to Goddess Parvati for well-being of their husband.
Swings are hung from trees and decorated with fragrant flowers. Women both married and unmarried love to swing on these swings to celebrate the 'sawan festival'.
श्रावनमासके शुक्लपक्षकी तृतीयाको हरियाली तीज कहते हैं । इस दिन महिलाएँ भवानी-पार्वतीका पूजन करती हैं।
राजस्थानकी परम्परामें इस माह लडकियोंको ससुरालसे पितृगृह बुला लिया जाता है। जिस लडकीके विवाहके पश्चात् पहला सावन आया हो, उसे ससुरालमें नहीं रखा जाता ।
सावनमें सुन्दर-से-सुन्दर पकवान्न पकाकर बेटियोंको सिंघारा भेजा जाता है । इस माहमें हिंडोलेपर झूला जाता है।
इस तीजपर मेहँदी लगानेका विशेष महत्व है, जो सुहागका चिह्न माना जाता है। कहा जाता है कि इस दिन गौरा विरहाग्निमें तपकर शिवसे मिली थीं।
