Yam Deepam Time: 17:44 to 19:17 यम-दीपदान (Skandpuran) कार्तिक कृष्ण त्रयोदशीको सायंकाल समय किसी पात्रामें मिट्टीके दीपक रखकर उन्हें तिलके तेलसे पूर्ण करे । उनमें नवीन रुईकी बत्ती रखे और उनको प्रकाशित करके गन्धादिसे पूजन करे। फिर दक्षिण दिशाकी ओर मुँह करके

‘मृत्युना दण्डपाशाभ्यां कालेन श्यामया सह । त्रयोदश्यां दीपदानात्‌ सूर्यजः प्रीयतां मम ॥’ With this Deepa daan on Trayodashi, may Surya’s son Yama be pleased without Mrityu (Death), Pasha (Yama’s rope of death), Danda (Yama’s stick) and ‘Kaal’ (Death time).
मन्त्रसे से यम दीप दान करे तो यमराज प्रसन्न होते हैं । यह त्रयोदशी प्रदोषव्यापिनी शुभ होती है।

दोनों हाथोमें कमल आदिके पुष्प लेकर हाथ जोड़े और निम्न मंत्रो का पाठ करें -

ॐ यज्ञेन यज्ञमयजंत देवास्तानि धर्माणि प्रथमान्यासन् ।
ते ह नाकं महिमानः सचंत यत्र पूर्वे साध्याः संति देवाः ॥
ॐ राजाधिराजाय प्रसह्य साहिने नमो वयं वैश्रवणाय कुर्महे।
स मे कामान्‌ कामकामाय मह्यं कामेश्वरो वैश्रवणो ददातु।
कुबेराय वैश्रवणाय महाराजाय नम:।
